Concrete Batching Plant 2010

By Administrator-1, September 1, 2010

In 2010, SEEDA applied to relocate HANSON, the Concrete Batching Plant,¬†from their site adjacent to the new VESTAS building on the west bank of the River Medina. The SEEDA proposal was that the company would be relocated to Kingston, in the residential areas of Kingston Park and Hawthorn Meadows. This was fiercely contested by the residents who successfully mounted a campaign, objecting against the proposal. On the morning of the Planning Committee Meeting, Hanson withdrew their application. However, SEEDA insisted that the planning decision should be made. The Planning Committee agreed with the locals and decided against the Planning Officer, Sarah Wilkinson’s Recommendation of Approval.
